These are the actual fabrics I'm using for this quilt. It's inspired by the novel, Ahab's Wife, or The Stargazer. At the rate I'm going, it could be finished in the year 2011. But a lot of stuff has been going on since I started it.

Future Quilts
I'm always working (or pretend to be working) on more than one project at a time. These are some "germs" that I hope will turn into quilts. Unfortunately, it takes courage to start one, and eyestrain to finish it. Note: I give my quilts names, for several kinds of convenience.

I'm already working on both of these quilts at once. The Camilla (yo-yo pattern) is so easy, it's relaxing after working on the sampler.
Quilt Points of Interest
The word quilt is derived from the Latin culcita, meaning a padded and tied mattress.
When Henry VIII married Catherine Howard, he gave her 15 quilts as a wedding gift. (I found another source that said it was 23 quilts!) Some of these were probably Flower Garden (hexagon) quilts, as the pattern goes back before Tudor times.
